Overview & Highlights

Restaurante Los Currantes, nestled in the heart of Nueva Andalucía, Marbella, is a genuine gem for lovers of traditional Spanish grill cuisine. This cozy, no-frills establishment radiates an inviting, authentically local atmosphere where the focus is squarely on delivering exceptional flavors and genuine hospitality. From the moment you step inside, the rustic charm and the enticing aroma of sizzling charcoal-grilled dishes draw you in, promising a memorable culinary experience grounded in Spanish tradition.

The highlight here is undoubtedly their expertly prepared barbecue, cooked fresh right before your eyes. Standout dishes such as the succulent Iberian pork shoulder, bursting with rich, smoky flavors, and the fresh BBQ sardines, flawlessly charred and tender, are frequently praised by regulars and newcomers alike. One cannot miss their legendary "frituras" – a classic Spanish mixed fried seafood plate – and the impeccable gambas pil pil, where tender prawns swim in a fragrant, garlicky olive oil that delights the palate with every bite.

Despite its humble setting, with simple furnishings including plastic chairs, Restaurante Los Currantes offers food that transports you straight to the heart of Spain. The ambiance is relaxed and unpretentious, frequented mostly by locals which adds to its authentic charm. Diners appreciate the friendly, approachable staff who genuinely care, ensuring the experience feels personal and welcoming. The owner’s passion for good food shines through, creating an environment where excellent service complements outstanding cuisine.

Value for money here is exceptional—menus del día offer a satisfying three-course meal plus a drink for around 12 euros, making it accessible without compromising on quality or flavor. While the venue might not be fine dining, its unassuming façade is deceptive; behind it lies a treasure trove of taste and tradition that will satisfy both your appetite and your soul.

Whether you’re a local looking for a trustworthy spot to indulge in classic Spanish grill fare or a visitor eager to experience authentic flavors away from the tourist crowds, Restaurante Los Currantes is a culinary haven. The lively yet comfortable setting makes it a great place to savor vibrant, smoky dishes that pay homage to age-old recipes while feeling fresh and hearty. Just beware that during the day, the nearby vehicle recovery shop can add a bit of noise—but as many patrons agree, the food and genuine atmosphere more than makeup for it.

In short, Restaurante Los Currantes is more than just a grill; it’s a celebration of the worker’s spirit and Spanish culinary heritage, where every bite tells a story of dedication, flavor, and warmth. If you’re seeking an authentic taste of Marbella away from polished tourist hotspots, this spot will win your heart and your palate.

Great value for money! No better food cheaper in the world. Workers kind of basic please. Good classic Spanish food. On of the best "frituras ". Gambas pil pil amazing. Nice friendly staff! Plasic chairs. If thid.place would be on the beach iy would be 5 star review. Buy is a place for workers. Still in its category owesome

This is a really cool café. It might not seem like much at first glance, but you’d be wrong. The prices are very reasonable, the food is incredibly delicious, and it’s prepared very quickly. The service is top-notch, and the waiters are very pleasant and polite. I highly recommend this place to everyone!

Traditional Spanish bbq restaurant, food was really good with the bbq sardines in particular being standout.for the whole table, my iberian pork shoulder was so tasty. service was excellent with owner coming over to explain the wines available, and his favourite was lovely. Not really set up for tourist but who cares when the food and service is so good.

Typical Spanish resaurant favored by locals. Always busy with a great menu del día. Huge barbecue.

Great restaurant, mostly locals. Friendly staff. Food served from the grill cooked fresh in front of you. Love it! Good value.

Food was delicious and although language was a slight issue (our fault), 2 adults and 3 children found something we loved. Such good value, you could easily pay triple the price and not eat food as tasty. Only problem is, that if you go during the day there is a vehicle recovery shop next door and they make a bit of a racket. All part of a town centre cafe I suppose :)

Great value, tasty lunch with starter, main and dessert or coffee, including a drink for only 12 euros. Rustic venue with a local and friendly atmosphere.
